Where is anathallo?

Does anyone know or has heard anything regarding anathallo recently? there is a real worrying silence of late...are they taking a break?

Anathallo, never considered to be exclusively a band, has permanently ceased to exist as a band. They're humble enough to presume that no announcement was necessary because they never made music to serve any such purpose. This seems to be indicated by the fact that, after Holiday at the Sea their web-presence was intentionally minimal, at best.

However, their music continues to surprise us as it pops up here and there. If you were watching the Oscars on Saturday night, you may have heard the song "Dokkoise House" playing in an American Express commercial.

Anathallo doesn't exist anymore. Each member is off doing their own thing, whether that's law school, working for Apple, writing grants for farms, being married, living in etc. They're mostly still living in Chicago, though some are as far away as Georgia.

surely they could atleast post a message to their fans on their blog. I mean, for people who have followed them for a long time and still connect with their music (however little a fan base that is) its pretty lame to have to not know what is going on at all - and id rather here from the band than from someone who joined a week ago.

Not a good reason, IMO.  If you want to humbly step out of the spotlight, you make a statement.  Or maybe today's equivalent is writing a short MySpace blog on it.*  Instead, people will keep wondering about them, checking the website, etc.  In fact, the statement:

baffles me.  A band has a purpose by its very nature:  to make music.  Now, if you said that the band was never meant to be the purpose of their individual lives, then I follow.
